NO. The Arabian Horse Legacy Inc. is a private corporation whose intent is to preserve the legacy of the Arabian horse in a multimedia format that people worldwide can use and understand.

What is in the Arabian Horse Legacy Inc. Encyclopedia and who provided the funds to collect the data?

The Encyclopedia consists of Video taped footage of most of the significant Arabian horses in North America, and rare film footage of Arabian horses born the early part of the Nineteen Hundred,s in England, Poland, and Egypt. Most of the horses where video taped in an open area and at liberty. The Encyclopedia also contains video taped interviews with many of the Judges, Breeders, Trainers, Journalists, Artists, Photographers, and Authors whom where instrumental in shaping the future of the Arabian Horse in America and for that matter the world.
In addition, More than fifty hours of Audio taped notes and observations where recorded containing even more details of each ranch visit. Further , Eighteen measurements where taken of a horse and hundreds of horses where measured, and computer programs where designed to compare the data. Several hundred 35 mm slides where taken.
The Encyclopedia today is nearing 1500 significant horses on video tape and will continue to expand.

Research for this project began in 1979, and video taping began in January of 1980, and continued for seven years. The project was funded privately by Ferman Ansel, A breeder of Arabian Horses since 1962.
Ferman Ansel is now enabling Arabian Horse owners World Wide to continue updating the Encyclopedia.

How do I get included in the Encyclopedia?

If you own a significant Arabian Horse, or the Sire ,Dam, Grand sire, or Grandam of such a horse and or footage of horses out of the past that you wish to be included in the Encyclopedia contact us or send the material with proper documentation to enable each horse to be identified correctly. Note the following:
National and top ten champions, Sires with 50 or more registered pruebred foals worldwide can be included free thru 1996.
You will be listed in the credits each time footage is requested or used in a research project.
How can I see the videos of the horses in the Encyclopedia?
You may wish to include your stallion or mare and construct a custom video with your ranch and bloodlines featured You can also purchase video tapes that have been edited by sire lines or family lines, these professionally edited and produced programs are a wealth of information and contain video footage never before available to the public. The names of the horses and the horsesin their pedigrees were tape recorded by experts for the Arabian Horse Legacyand great care was taken to pronounce them correctly in the videos.

Is there a book version of the Encyclopedia?
As of 1998, a book version is not available, however the Arabian Horse Legacy Inc. is developing a multiple volume set of books and interactive DVD CD Roms that focus on the Arabian Horse in America and their origins.

What are the credentials of the people producing the videos and what is the video quality?

The Arabian Horse Legacys' production studio can do both linear and digital editing and is staffed with professionally trained people in advanced televison production techniques. Ferman Ansel has 35 years of experiance with Arabian horses and is a past President of the Colorado Arabian Horse club and served as Vice Chairman of the International Arabian Horse Associations Pentathalon committee. The video footage was for the most part video taped on broadcast quality video tape by an experienced horseman, with the exception of old film and videotape footage which was provided by a number of people.
